Studio M+ was founded and is headed by Maurice van Bakel.
The firm is located in the heart of Amsterdam. Together with a team of specialists - experts
in architecture, interior design, visual communication, corporate presentations and more
- Van Bakel tackles design-related projects of all types and sizes - from extra little to extra
large - for a highly diverse and impressive client portfolio.

Inspired by art, nature, literature and travel, Maurice van Bakel enjoys sharing his
experiences through the creation of exhilarating projects that respond to the client's
needs and desires, while improving the quality of life for everyone involved.

RESIDENTIAL

Since opening its doors in 1998, studio M+ has designed and realized more than
30 residential projects, including a number of renovations. The steady growth of our client
portfolio motivates the team at studio M+ to continue making homes that radiate quality
and originality. The hallmarks of an M+ residence are beautifully organized spaces
surprising sightlines and vistas, carefully crafted compositions, and an integrated lighting
design that includes not only the clever application of artificial light but also, wherever
possible, the use of natural light and its seasonal effect on interior spaces.
The surroundings - the garden and the natural landscape of the site - also contribute to a
residential design that enhances the living experience.

In a residential project by studio M+, the architects collaborate with their client every step of
the way. Their well-considered choices lead to custom-made kitchens, bathrooms, and
living areas; exclusive furnishings; and every imaginable aspect of domestic design.
Underlining the superior quality of the design itself are the finest materials, countless

In recent years, studio M+ has designed a significant number of trade-fair stands and
corporate events for a growing portfolio of clients at home and abroad.

For each client in this continually expanding group - from global concern to local
business - M+ has designed and realized an innovative concept featuring original materials,
stunning graphics and lighting solutions. Not a static, over-styled presentation but an
unforgettable experience for everyone involved. At several trade-fairs, a studio M+ project
was selected as the most stylish and/or innovative exhibition design at the event.
